What else is IONOS doing to mitigate climate change?

At IONOS their directly operated data centers throughout Europe and North America have operated as carbon neutral since 2018. They source 100% renewable electricity for all data centers.

IONOS recognizes that being carbon neutral does not stop at sourcing renewable electricity and since 2018 have a certified Energy Management System (ISO 50001) in place for 100% of their directly operated data centers. Their dedicated Energy Management Team sets annual energy efficiency targets per data center and from 2018 to 2022 they have reduced absolute energy consumption by 9.6%.

They increasingly will use renewable energy generated onsite to power their data centers and have installed solar panels at their newest data canter in the UK. They have multiple installations planned in 2023.

Has IONOS made any public environmental commitments?

In 2021, IONOS joined the “VMware Zero Carbon Committed” cloud partner initiative, requiring data canter operator members to use 100% renewable energy or achieve carbon neutrality on or before 2030. Ionos focuses on three key improvement areas; energy, circular economy and water consumption. Their Data Centers are powered by 100% renewable electricity in regular operation and have been for many years.
